The President's daughter-in-law Vanessa Trump has been taken to hospital after opening a letter full of white powder addressed to her husband Donald Jr.
Donald Trump’s daughter-in-law Vanessa Trump has been taken to hospital after opening a package containing an unidentified substance.
It is understood the letter was addressed to her husband Donald Trump Jr, the President’s eldest son with ex-wife Ivana.
Vanessa (40) opened the letter on Monday morning at the family’s East 54th Street apartment, and after calling 911 to report coughing and nausea, she was decontaminated at the scene, according to a senior official.
Three people at the residence were taken to New York Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Medical Center strictly as a precaution, the New York City Fire Department told NBC on Monday.
The Secret Service has confirmed it is working with local law enforcement to investigate the suspicious package, and while the New York Police Department has deemed the substance non-hazardous, it has been sent to a lab for further analysis.

“How disturbed must a person be to do what they did to a mother of five children?” Michael Cohen, President Trump’s personal attorney, said in a statement. “This dangerous and reckless act goes beyond political differences.”
How disturbed must a person be to do what they did to a mother of five children?
None of the kids were believed to be home at the time of the incident.
Donald Jr is one of the key players at the centre of the Russia probe, having arranged the meeting at Trump Tower, in June 2016, between members of his father’s campaign and a Russian lawyer.
It is not the first time a Trump has been sent a package containing an unidentified white powder either.
Donald Jr’s younger brother Eric was sent a threatening letter in 2016, which said harm would come to him and his siblings if his father didn’t pull out of the presidential race.
It also contained white powder and was opened by his wife Lara Yunaska, but tests found the substance harmless.
There were also two separate scares at Trump Tower in 2016.
