“People are struggling to pay rent, buy food, medicine and other essentials for themselves and their families. We all feel compassion and concern for those affected by the coronavirus,” said Richard Saghian, Founder and CEO of Fashion Nova. “Fashion Nova Cares with Cardi B will provide people with necessary relief to help them get through this crisis. As a community-driven brand, we are inspired by the kindness and generosity of others and we wanted to do our part to help those in need.”
“All of us have to play a part in supporting the communities that we serve,” added Saghian. “Our Fashion Nova Cares initiative will continue beyond the current challenges of COVID-19 with additional endeavours and programmes that will further help make a positive impact in people’s lives.”
To have a chance to win US$1,000, those in need can visit fashionnova.com/cares to share their stories and information. Fashion Nova Cares will choose 24 people each day for the duration of the campaign. The company, which makes men’s and women’s clothes, will then distribute individual cheques in the amount of $1,000.
“Everyone has been affected by the coronavirus pandemic,” said Cardi B. “Fashion Nova Cares and I have come with a way to help the many families in need.”
More than 45,000 people have died in the coronavirus pandemic in the US, with almost 820,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19, according to worldometer. Almost 20,000 people have died in the state of New York, with approaching 5,000 coronavirus deaths in the neighbouring state of New Jersey, the second highest.
Fashion Nova was founded by Saghian in 2006 in a bricks-and-mortar store inside the Panorama Mall, in Panorama City, Los Angeles. The ecommerce site was launched in 2013.
Cardi B, a rapper and actor, has been involved with the clothing label since November 2018 with a “Party with Cardi” launch that featured performances by Cardi B, Saweetie, Brianna Perry, and Dream Doll. A second season of the Cardi B collection was launched in May last year with performances by Cardi B, YG, Blueface, and Lil Nas X.
