US President Donald Trump has been hog-tied in New York’s Times Square.
Now that may be to your liking, or to your dislike, but it’s a shocking billboard about the most powerful man in the United States.
Dhvani unveiled the first in a series of images meant to protest the Trump administration’s “gag rule”. Planned Parenthood’s Title X, the nation’s program for affordable birth control and reproductive healthcare, which serves four million people each year, was told it would lose its funding if it provided information on where and how to access healthcare. Planned Parenthood pulled out of the federal grant program in August in protest.
In an image titled “Lady Liberty,” middle school teacher and Marine Corps veteran Michal Mesa binds a convincing Donald Trump impersonator, her bare foot planted firmly on his screaming face, in a vignette inspired by the superhero Wonder Woman and her Lasso of Truth.
“As a former US Marine, I was proud to serve my country and help protect the rights of our citizens,” said Mesa.
“Perhaps now more than ever, it’s crucial we take a powerful stand against those who are determined to strip Americans of our rights. I’m proud to represent Lady Liberty and hope it inspires more people to take a stand.”
Dhvani’s chief communications officer, Chloe Mason, said the company was “proud to join Planned Parenthood in defending women from assaults on our reproductive rights.
“Trump administration policies are threatening the health and bodily autonomy of women, especially women of colour, low-income women and LGBTQ women.”
As part of its #StandForSomething campaign, the business from Portland, Oregon, will donate part of every sale to provide women’s healthcare and fight Donald Trump’s Title X gag rule in Congress.
Dhvani has two other shocking images, including one in which the Trump impersonator sits on a golden toilet as a model takes away his cellphone.
