Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk is a dad once more, this time with Canadian singer Grimes welcoming a baby boy named X Æ A-12 Musk.

X Æ A-12 is the top trending item on Twitter right now and it is not a name that comes easy to mind, but then again we are not Elon Musk and, for that matter Grimes, who wrote on 28 April that “it’s cool to be strange”.

Elon Musk already has five boys born via IV with his first wife Justine – twins Griffin and Xavier, born in 2004, and triplets Kai, Saxon and Damian, born in 2006.

Since splitting up he has been in a relationship with the Canadian singer, real name Claire Boucher, for the past two years.

Musk, 48, shared a photo of himself holding the newborn in the hospital early Tuesday morning (US time). He first broke the news on Twitter on Monday, when a user asked him for updates on the baby.

“A few hours away!” Musk wrote. About four hours later, he added: “Mom & baby all good.”

And later, in response to another Twitter question, he replied simply, “Boy.”

When another user inquired about the baby’s name, Musk replied: “X Æ A-12 Musk.”

He then was asked to share a picture of X Æ A-12.

Clearly enjoying himself, he then wrote:

Showing his popularity X Æ A-12 immediately became a popular social media meme.

However Grimes herself revealed that Elon Musk was just playing around.

Grimes sparked pregnancy rumours on Instagram in January by posting a nude photo of herself with a fetus Photoshopped over her visible baby bump. She gave no explanation.

In February, Grimes confirmed on Instagram she was 25 weeks pregnant and struggling to cope with working and having a baby.

“This whole thing has been a bit of an ordeal,” Grimes captioned a selfie in the post. “Had some complications early on, a decent second trimester but starting to hurt everywhere at 25 wksz. What were yalls experience w this stuff like?”

The singer said she didn’t fully understand what she was getting into or the physical toll pregnancy takes on your body.

She released her fifth studio album Miss Anthropocene on 21 February. It had been officially announced in March 2019. It debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart and at No. 32 on the Billboard 200, with 19,000 equivalent album units, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data. It also debuted at No. 10 on the Official UK Albums chart, becoming Grimes’ first top 10 album in the UK.

Grimes talked of her ‘profound’ decision to have baby with Elon Musk in Rolling Stone last month.

“I have sacrificed my power,” she said.

Grimes spoke about the tragedy that comes with carrying a child even though it’s a great thing.

“For a girl, it’s sacrificing your body and your freedom,” she said. “It’s a pretty crazy sacrifice and only half of the population has to do it.”
