Maye Musk, the mother of Tesla co-founder and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, has confirmed that her son is the father.

Elon Musk’s girlfriend Grimes, the musician and producer, revealed earlier this month that she was 21-weeks pregnant but did not name Elon Musk, whom she was last seen with on Christmas Eve, was the father.

However Maye Musk was quite outspoken about her joy at the news.

“I’m very excited, very excited,” said Maye Musk told New York Post at the Sally LaPointe show during New York Fashion Week.

“I’ve got 11 grandkids, and the more the merrier. They all get along well.”

Grimes, who has been linked to Elon Musk since attending the Met Gala together in May 2018, were pictured together when the Tesla boss took Grimes and mates in his prototype Cybertruck to celebrity haven Nobu Malibu in California, in December last year. Then the pair were photographed together at the annual Christmas Eve party thrown by Kim Kardashian and her husband Kanye West.

Grimes, whose real name is Claire Elise Boucher, said that she is pregnant and described feeling inadequate.

“I feel like I was woefully ill prepared because I don’t know if pregnancy is as visible or discussed as it should be,” she said in an Instagram post.

“I just didn’t understand what I was getting into. It’s been good too, but it makes working a lot harder. Good at writing and having lots of wild ideas, but anything physical is hard. I’m also way more emo and less capable of bravery in the face of haters online and stuff haha.”

Grimes also gave Vogue an idea of how pregnancy is affecting her applying make-up.

“After I hydrate, mist, I usually use this Korean essence. It’s really been helping me deal with my pregnancy skin problems,” she said in a video clip. “I don’t know if everyone has this, but when I got knocked up, my skin just turned super red and became just constantly covered in stuff.”

“Doing makeup is just way harder when you’re pregnant for some reason.” Grimes continued. “When I’m not pregnant, I don’t need to wear as much makeup because I’m not all red.”

Tesla’s billionaire boss, who has already fathered twins and a set of triplets to his first wife Justine, has only issued a cryptic response to the pregnancy of his girlfriend.

“x is y,” Musk tweeted in response to two photos showing Grimes’ baby bump draped in a black and white robe.
